17 Sep Cunabula
On the occasion of Cunabula, a solo exhibition by Monica Gorini, we are pleased to have collaborated with the artist on the curation of the stones.
Cunabula—the cradle—is the place that welcomes and protects fragile life. Monica Gorini chooses this word as the title of both her exhibition and its central work, transforming it into a metaphor for nature as a universal womb: an ancient mother who gives us life, but who now appears vulnerable and in need of protection.
It is within this dialogue between cradle and mountain, between intimacy and vastness, that Gorini’s works take shape. In Cunabula, the main installation, wood, iron, and Palissandro marble—blue, pink, and white—give form to a cradle that is both solid and fragile. The stones, chosen not for their value but for their uniqueness, express the dual nature of the mountain: flesh and sky, matter and cosmic breath.
The exhibition is open until October 31, 2025 at Gilda Contemporary Art, curated by Cristina Gilda Artese.
