stones are discarded when they cannot be used in the context of serial production, because their transformation would be unprofitable. Irregular offcuts cannot be worked or handled efficiently with standard industrial machinery, nor does the use of second or third grade stones guarantee cost containment in terms of market standards. In order to make their manufactured products marketable, stone artisans are obliged to work with uniform raw materials.
This is why Pietre Trovanti’s objects necessarily involve a higher production cost relative to that of those made with standard stones, cut from uniform slabs or blocks.
Our choice of authentic sustainability, our love for imperfection, and our limited production volume deviate from received distribution and commercial logic, resulting in the exceptional value—intrinsic, ethical and aesthetic—of our products.
